Transgender Voice

Gender affirming voice care is available for people who wish to enhance the femininity or masculinity in their voice.

A comprehensive assessment that considers an individuals vocal health is important because modifying voice pitch and resonance is easier with vocal strength and flexibility.

Voice care forms a ‘specialist’ field in speech pathology as part of laryngology. Therefore, gender affirming voice care, is a ‘specialist within specialist’ area. Martin is an experienced voice clinician, who is also highly experienced providing trauma-informed care for people with voice dysphoria.

From 2022 to 2024, Martin provided supervision and support for generalist clinicians contracted to engage in specialist voice work for online platforms providing gender voice care, helping them to develop core skills in both voice and gender voice.

Currently, Martin works with psychologists and councilors from the the Gender Centre, Marrickville, and at the King Street Psychology Clinic, Newtown. We are a multi-disciplinary team of specialists in gender services. This includes a psychologist, psychiatrist, and speech pathologist. We offer experienced and comprehensive care. We are experienced in the field of gender research and intervention.

Gender voice modification as well as peri-operative care for surgical glottoplasty forms part of the dedicated Saturday voice clinic.
